Source Materials

The documents reproduced in this exhibit are from the Vashti Bartlett Papers in the Johns Hopkins Nursing Historical Collection. These papers contain hundreds of photographs, letters, journals, and notebooks which document the many challenges Vashti Bartlett (SON 1906) faced in her nursing career. They constitute a rich resource of primary materials for studies in the history of twentieth-century nursing. Volunteers and staff of the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives are organizing and preserving the papers of Bartlett and also those of other Hopkins nurses so that they may be made accessible for research. Contact the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives at (410)735-6800 or archives@jhmi.edu for further information about the Vashti Bartlett Papers and the Nursing Historical Collection.
