Source Materials
The documents reproduced in this exhibit are from the Vashti Bartlett
Papers in the Johns Hopkins Nursing Historical Collection. These
papers
contain hundreds of photographs, letters, journals, and notebooks
which document the many challenges Vashti Bartlett (SON 1906) faced
in her nursing career. They constitute a rich resource of primary
materials for studies in the history of twentieth-century nursing.
Volunteers and staff of the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives are
organizing and preserving the papers of Bartlett and also those of
other Hopkins nurses so that they may be made accessible for research.
Contact the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives at (410)735-6800

Papers and the Nursing Historical Collection.

Funding for the Preservation and Processing of the Vashti Bartlett

The Johns Hopkins Nurses' Alumni Association has generously provided
funds for the preservation and organization of the Nursing Historical
Collection and for the production of the Bartlett exhibit in the School
of Nursing. Volunteers and staff of the Alan Mason Chesney Medical
Archives processed the collection and prepared the exhibit with the
help of the staff of Design and Publications Office of The Johns Hopkins
