Mary Florence Williams Cadden was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1913. She graduated from Tyner High School in 1931. She attended Carson-Newman College from 1931 to 1932, the McKenzie School of Business in 1937, and the University of Chattanooga in 1945. She received her nursing diploma from the Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing in 1948. In 1949 she began working as a head nurse and assistant in instruction in the Outpatient Department of Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 1952 she began working as instructor and supervisor of an aide program in the Outpatient Department of Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 1953 she became the President of the Johns Hopkins Nurses Club of Maryland, Inc. In 1954 and 1955 she served as Chairman of the Program Committee of the Johns Hopkins Nurses' Alumnae Association. She worked as Instructor and Supervisor of Auxiliary Personnel at Johns Hopkins Hospital School of Nursing until 1958. In 1993 she acted as Class Representative for the class of 1948 in the Johns Hopkins Nurses' Alumnae Association. She was awarded the title of Emeritus-Master Flower Show Judge in 2006 for her 25 years of service to the National Garden Club. Mary Cadden died in 2008 in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey.
