Conrad B. Acton

Conrad B. Acton was born in Salem, New Jersey. He received a B.S. from Haverford College in 1925 and a M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1929. After an internship at the Baltimore City Hospitals, Acton served one year on the housestaff of the Johns Hopkins Hospital urology surgical service. He subsequently served at the Baltimore City Hospitals as a resident pathologist from 1931 to 1933. Acton held the appointment of Assistant in Medicine from 1934 to 1958, but primarily operated a large internal medicine practice on St. Paul Street. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army Medical Reserve. He remained in the reserve after the war and was instrumental in re-organizing the U.S.Army 457th General Hospital Army reserve. He retired with the rank of colonel.
