The Harvey W. Cushing Collection spans his career at Johns Hopkins (1896-1912) as well as his late career at Harvard University and Yale University. It consists of reprints, correspondence, and patient records. The bulk of the material are copies of medical records of Cushing's Johns Hopkins Hospital neurosurgery patients compiled by later researchers. Personal materials such as a diary, family belongings, and photographs are also included. The collection also focuses on the legacy of Cushing, with articles and correspondence about him, including commemorative items such as a stamp issued by the U.S. Postal Service in 1988.
