Ada M. Carr

Ada M. Carr was born in England. She received her nursing diploma from the Johns Hopkins Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1893. Following graduation she served as a head nurse and from 1894 to 1897 as assistant superintendent of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Training School for Nurses. She resigned this position to become the superintendent of the Instructive Visiting Nurse Association of Baltimore. In 1907 she became the first full-time instructor at the Johns Hopkins Hospital Training School for Nurses. She became the superintendent of nurses at New York Woman's Hospital in 1910. She was the first editor of the Johns Hopkins Nurses Alumnae Magazine and served as editor from 1901 to 1903, in 1907 and from 1909 to 1911. She was editor of the journal The Public Health Nurse from 1923 to 1930.
