Montrose T. Burrows
31 Oct 1884- 21 Aug 1947
Montrose T. Burrows was born in Halstead, Kansas and graduated with an A.B. from the University of Kansas in 1905. He received an M.D. from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 1909. He continued his training and research at the Rockefeller Institute before accepting an appointment as instructor in anatomy at Cornell University in 1911. Burrows returned to the Johns Hopkins University in 1915 as an associate in pathology and the acting resident pathologist of Johns Hopkins Hospital. In 1917, he became an associate professor of pathology at Washington University, St. Louis, Mo., and in 1920 he was named as research director at the Barnard Free Skin and Cancer Hospital. Moving to Pasadena, California, in 1928, Burrows was appointed as cancer clinic director of Pasadena Hospital, specializing in cancer treatment and research.

Scope and Content
The Montrose T. Burrows collection contains two copies of a partial manuscript entitled, "That Upon Which Life Depends". Some patient x-ray files and a manuscript on eczema are also included in the collection.
